Has anyone else seen Jordan Petersons latest discussion? In which he presents argument about being suspended from Twitter for breaching their rules about hate speech.
I note that in Petersons twitter he has stated that the doctor whom removed the breasts of a celebrity as “criminal”, and Peterson claims to not understand why he has been suspended from twitter.
Since that doctor is identifiable publically, Peterson has indirectly damaged the reputation of the doctor.
Peterson claims that pride is a sin. Please be aware that there are defined flavours to pride.
“pride : 1. high or inordinate opinion of one’s own dignity, importance, merit, or superiority, whether as cherished in the mind or displayed in bearing, conduct etc.
3. becoming or dignified sense of what is due to oneself or one’s position or character; self-respect; self-esteem.
4. pleasure or satisfaction taken in something done by or belonging to oneself or conceived as reflecting credit upon oneself: civic pride.
6. the best or most admired part of anything.”
Macquarie dictionary, ios.
Pride in the sinful sense is number 1 above. Pride in the reasonable sense is number 3, simple dignity. Admiration as pride is number 6, which may or may not be considered sinful.
Examine Mr Petersons Youtube and decide for yourself if 1, 3, or 6 show what form of pride Peterson himself is revealing.
Is there anything actually criminal about a surgeon removing the breasts of a human?
“criminal : 1. of or relating to crime or its punishment. 2. the nature of or involving crime. 3. guilty of crime.
crime : 1. an act committed or an omission of duty, injurious to the public welfare, for which punishment is prescribed by law. 2. serious violation of human law. 3. any offence, especially one of grave character. 4. serious wrongdoing; sin. 5. colloquial a foolish or senseless act: it’s a crime to have to work so hard.” ibid.
Language is highly important. Communication is paramount.
They were that humans breasts, and the removal was done so by a trained surgeon with informed consent, as part of a transhuman surgery.
One notes that in some cultures it is forbidden to cut one’s own hair.
The powerful have often prescribed laws and rules about other people’s bodies and persecuted individuals whom did not follow those “laws” and “rules”.
Fundamentally our bodies are OURS.
