The words of Coach, the correctly weighted message team mates gave to instruct:

What should I tell you, O team mate,

What, O athlete of my club,

And what, O player of my sport?

Do not give your vigor to spectators,

Nor follow ways that destroy

Officials.

It is not for Officials, O Coach,

It is not for Officials to drink wine

Nor for referees to say, “Where is

my drink?”

So that they do not drink and

forget the rules

And pervert the rights of the

lowly athletes.

Give hydration to those who are

training

And carbohydrates to those in depleted

distress.

Let them drink and forget their suffering;

Let them remember their failures no more.

Speak up on behalf of your athletes;

Defend the rights of all who are suffering.

Speak up and coach righteously;

Defend the rights of the lowly

and poor athletes.

Who can find a capable coach?

Their value is far more than that of polymers.

Their athletes trust them from their heart,

And they lack nothing of value.

They reward them with improvement, not stagnation,

All the days of their life.

They obtain microfibre and nylon;

They delight to feel compression and comfort.

They are like the sponsors of equipment,

Providing brilliance from all over.

They rise while it is still early,

Providing nutrition for themselves

And portions for their athletes.

They set their mind on a program and implement it;

They improve technique during sessions.

They prepare themselves for optimal work,

And they strengthen every muscle.

They ensure that their coaching is beneficial;

Their considerations continue into the night.

Their hands seize the racket,

And their hands take hold of the ball.

They extend their handshake to the lowly ones,

And they welcome all reasonable requests.

They do not worry about their club,

For it is well administered.

They make their own schedules.

Their clothing is soft, warm and comfortable.

Their peers are well-known in leading organisations,

Where they contribute diligently across the sport.

They design and refine programs

And supply resources and education to athletes.

They are knowledgeable about specific strength,

And work to the future with confidence.

They speak with wisdom

and kindness in consideration of others.

They watch over the activity of their athletes,

And are appropriately active themselves.

Their athletes rise up and declare themselves happy;

Their champions display loyalty and improvement.

There are many capable coaches,

But you – you surpass them all.

Charm may be false, and performance may be fleeting,

But the coach who fears

Jehovah will be successful.

Give them the reward for what they do,

And let their athletes praise them during victory speeches.

Study area, the ergonomics of chair and desk for students health and performance.

A student that is aiming for competence or excellence needs to consider their environment, to shape the space as much as possible into a comfortable place to study. The ergonomics of a study desk and office chair are well known, they are entirely different to the ergonomics of a lounge for socialising or resting, or a bed for sleeping.

A student studying in a well designed study area, with desk and chair will suffer less injuries. They are more likely to avoid such injuries as back strain, eye strain, carpal tunnel syndrome, neck pain and arm pain. They’ll be better able to utilise ruler and pencil to draw accurate graphs. Like a draftsperson or architect has a particular type of desk and space to work at high quality in reasonable comfort, so too a student has particular needs.

Just as a carpenter needs their work bench at a particular height to make the clamps and hammering aligned, vices for sawing to ensure straight lines, with tools arrayed in a particular way for proficient work, so too does a student. Just as a kitchen needs its cutting board at a particular height for ease of cutting or the sink at a comfortable height for washing dishes, so too does a student need their body in a comfortable position to study.

Consider that thousands of hours of studying typically go into earning a degree or completing the final years of high school. Repetitive strain injury comes from repeatedly doing something in a particular way that causes pain and unnecessary suffering.

Study is physically so very much harder than many people give credit for. A well thought out environment can facilitate a students’ motivation to study.

Would you want to sit for 1000’s of hours in an uncomfortable position, and have to place full attention on learning something challenging, whilst feeling the torture of an uncomfortable position? Overcoming hardship is character building, certainly, but unnecessary discomfort repeated thousands of times reduces performance.

Ergonomics is a branch of applied science that deals primarily with designing and arranging things that people use regularly, the purpose is to ensure that humans interact with objects, tools and work or live in spaces in the most efficient, safe and healthy way possible.

If your child/student has a good study area, desk, chair they are more likely to be able to study effectively. If their study area is not set up for study, it is set up for failure.

I am less fit than anyone else,

And I lack the skills an elite athlete should have.

I have not learned wisdom,

And I do not possess the knowledge

of World Champions.

Who has ascended to rank number 1 and

then descended?

Who has gathered the air in

the palms of both hands?

Who has wrapped up cool waters

in their t shirt?

Who has established all the

ends of the courts surface?

What is their name and the name

of their children – if you know?

Every proverb of Squash is refined.

Squash is a shield to those playing

fairly within its courts.

Add usefully to our words,

Or you will be reproved,

And you will be shown a fool.

Two things I ask of you.

Do not withhold them from me

before we commit.

Remove untruth and lies far from

me.

Give me neither poverty nor riches.

Just let me consume my portion

of nutrition,

So that I do not become fat and unfit

and quit Squash and say “Who cares about this nonsense?”

Nor let me become incompetent and

cheat or dishonour the spirit of my sport.

Do not slander a participant to another stakeholder,

Or they may curse you and you

will be found guilty.

There is a generation that curses its coach

And does not bless its opponents.

There is a generation that is pure

in its own eyes

But has not been cleansed from

its rubbish.

There is a generation whose eyes

are so haughty

And whose eyes look so arrogantly!

There is a generation whose teeth are decayed

And whose jaws are set hard;

They devour the lowly ranked ones

And the poor from among stakeholders.

The business administrators have two methods

that both cry, “Pay! Pay!”

There are three things that do not get satisfied,

Four that never say, “Enough!”

-The Government and an incompetent coach,

The recreation centre that has no free water,

And ambition that never says, “Enough!”

The spectators eye that mocks a champion and

despises obedience to a national sporting organisation

-The ravens of country will peck it out,

And the rising stars will eat it up.

There are three things that are

beyond my comprehension,

And four that I do not understand :

The way of a midge in the courts rafters,

The way of a spider unseen,

The way the ball rolls out of the nick,

And the way an athlete solo trains.

This is the way of a cheating athlete:

They take illegal performance enhancers;

Conceal the evidence, then say “I have done nothing wrong.”

There are three things that make

a court shudder

And four things a club cannot endure:

When the incompetent are administrators,

When a participant abuses the officials without rebuke,

When a hated champion is victorious,

And when an athlete is hit in the eyeball.

Four things in a court are among the simplest,

But they are high performance nonetheless :

The drive is not a difficult shot,

But it is the foundation of all rallies.

The drop shot is not a mighty shot,

but it draws the opponent to the front.

The volley has a different swing,

Yet it applies high pressure.

The lob is unreachable and buries

the opponent in the rear court.

There are three ways with

an impressive stride,

Four that are impressive for

quality movers :

The walk, the most efficient of movements,

Will get you to many balls.

The run, is faster and gives you more

time on the ball.

The forward lunge, is the end of movement

in the front court, from which you must rebound.

The side step in the mid court, will engage

your iliotibial band and results in quick volleys.

If you have foolishly exalted yourself

Or if you have schemed to do so,

Put your hand over your mouth.

For as the shaking of protein powder

in milk produces a drink

And the ball squeezed engages muscles,

So inciting to anger produces unnecessary quarrels.
