Most athletes lead lives of quiet determination and complete their athletic careers with the flow still in them.

After a loss we understand more of ourselves.

Too much caffeine over stimulates, too much alcohol over depresses, too much water and the stomach explodes. Optimise ones consumption.

Be curious of loved ones, less suspiciously. Be suspicious of opponents, less curiously.

The cost of everything is time.

The two most emotional steps on any journey are the first and the last. When you can start a habit, discover how you can stop that habit.

Define success clearly and you will achieve it.

there was someone in my life long ago
and now they're not
like mucus from my nose
they expelled themselves quite a lot
spattered on the ground

after i found they'd been gone for so long
i rediscovered the joy of song
though quite poorly
telling my stories
yarning to no one in particular
using my own vernacular

words i took for my own
the seeds planted
the friendships granted
the lovers lost
the hopes withered
the starry nights of despair
of depths without any care

just tell the truth dad said
be average dad said
dont stand out in the crowd
others will aim to become proud
by tearing you down or building you up
aim for competence
to fill your cup.
