Squash Solo Training

Why do solo squash training?

How do I improve my ground court drives?

How do I improve my straight volleys?

In the following 3 videos athletes will discover some simple and effective solo training routines to improve their ground court drives and their straight volleys, which are the two most fundamental shots in squash.

How much time should a player/athlete spend on these drills?

There is no easy answer to that question! When you are satisfied with your improvement and have both set a goal and achieved that goal, then that will reveal when it’s time to move onwards. After deterioration is revealed, then it’ll be time to do some maintenance training to retune the skills that these 3 videos work upon.

Ask yourself – what are my worst components of squash, and what are my best components of my squash?

If your drive is still holding you back, then work on that. If the volleys are weakest, then work on those.

Set your own goals, only the athlete is in charge of their Love All Squash Training.

Nicks at Mach Speed.

Spectators observe what the athlete appears to be, few experience genuine athleticism.

It is better to train and compete than not to train and thus regret competing.

Technique and fitness combine in athleticism, however if we must choose between them, choose fitness for that is the healthier option.

If an opponent injures you and you can’t continue competition, take the win, if you can’t continue your athletic career, hand the matter to insurance or a legal team.

Spectators judge the athletes competitive performance, not the athletes training.

The fastest athlete can be decieved and be disadvantaged by their speed, the skillful athlete can become tired and loose their accuracy, thus an athlete must be able to recognise and overcome the strengths of the opposition.

The wise athlete chooses the higher value option between…

Guard Training With Soreness.

Squash ball, 1999. (squash ball)

An athlete is confident that what they hope for grows in training.

Athletes do difficult things so much it becomes easy, participants do easy things so much they’re just burning calories.

The match is mostly understood looking back at it, but the athlete visualises it looking forwards.

Athletes do not need freedom of speech, they need freedom of movement.

An anxious athlete has too many choices.

Participants understand athleticism so poorly, that they do not even understand that only playing the sport is not athleticism in any sense of the word.

Squash is not a problem to be solved, but a reality to be experienced.

The despairing athlete is not being whom they are.

An athletes most painful state is when…
